KOTOR problems

I just got Star Wars KOTOR today and am experienceing a problem.

Installation was smooth, as did the beginign of the game, but after about ten minutes of playing the game freezes and then I get a black screen where nothing responds at all. I can still here the music but there is nothing. I turned off the computer and restarted and tried it again, this time I got a little farther but the same thing happened. After trying multiple times, the longest time that I got to play the game was about ten minutes before the freeze. Very frustrating and disappointing, espescially because of all the good things I had heard about KOTOR. Any help would be greatly appreciated, the faster the better.

Specs of my PC:
NVIDIA GeForce MX440 64 MB Graphics card
2.5GHz
768 MB RAM
If anything else is needed let me know.

Try updating your video drivers, go to the site of your video card and look, or try www.microsoft.com they might have them, they usually do

Your problem, can be that your MX 440 is only 64 mb memory.
To Play modern graphical advanced games like KOTOR, you will need a faster card with 128 mb memory.

But as Kaine said, update the drivers. And also lower the resolution to 800 X 600 + disble all quality settings in your video cards propertys. and set colours to 16 bit. So maybe it will work

Another thing, that can give such behaviour. is an overheated video card.
Then you should get a couple of good case fans. one in front, for air intake and one in the rear of the case for exhaust hot air.

But first, take a look at your PC case, and see if there are any mounting holes for fans?

If you cant find any. You could use a Slot exhaust fan mounted next to the video card. This will also cool down the rest of the PC case some.
