Setting up Sprint DSL

Hello all,
I've setup dozens of Cable modems but never a Sprint DSL.
A friend of mine lives in the sticks and the only high speed internet is Sprint,now from what I've heard around this area anyway is that Sprint's service stinks.
But like I said that's hearsay,my buddy doesn't want to pay Sprint the $100 install fee so he asked me to hook it up.
Question:Is the setup about the same as cable or is there something else I should know.
BTW:Earthlink will be his ISP for email ect.... and they didn't give him a disk.
