Best to use router and switch?

I want to link 3 PC's to 1 cable internet connection.Is it better to use a Switch and a Router to connect these or get rid of the switch and just use a router.I have a 1 port router and a 5 port switch but if it is better to use just a router I will buy a 4 or 5 port router and get rid of the switch I have.Thanks..........Troubled.....
