How do i install windows me from windows xp cos it wont boot from a cd when my comp is loading and it says i cant load it off the e: driver when my computers loaded i have windows 95 , me and xp currently on discs (cd's) if that is of any use to anyone i am currently trying to install me

So you're trying to install Windows ME? I seriously wouldn't recommend it. Even Microsoft considers ME to be a bad operating system.

Go with XP. It's far more stable and a better product.

Are these CDs actual, legally-bought install CDs complete with product keys? Not burned copies?

They are copies but i need me to play this amazing game

i do have product keys with them tho

still, ME is crappy, I'd personally go with 98 SE before I went with ME.

Ok. Do u have a 98 bootdisk? If no get it from bootdisk.com.

Insert the Win ME CD into the drive and boot from the floppy. Choose boot with CDROM support option and press enter.

After coming to the A:/ drive prompt, change to ur CD drive and run setup from there.

It should work fine. Be careful not to install ME on the same partition as WinXP.

be very careful if you are playing with partitions. Back everything up off of your XP drive. (i'm sure you already do. ) You're not goign to be able to boot to XP if you install ME, probably....

I think he can boot into Win XP as only the boot file will be edited to reflect the new OS.

I installed Win 98 SE after i installed XP in the same way I described above.

In creating a multiboot system, the best thing to do is install the OS's in the order oldest to newest, on seperate partitions of course. Also you want a common file system in them all, ie; Fat32 Why you would want to run Windows 95 is beyond me but that's the dealio.

This installation order has to do with the whole "backward compatibility" issue. They aren't foward compatable. If you ignore this, you are asking for trouble.

I hope this helps.

:-)
