Help!!!!!!!!!! me with the sims 2

HELLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i got the sims 2 for easter and it says it needs a direct x 9.0 compatible graphics adapters?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have already downloaded direct x 9.0c and it doesnt work i have read some of the other emails aboout this and seen that you need to kno which game card or whatever it is and mine is: S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR. is that i write one if not can you please help me or tell me what to do!!!!!!!!!!

I've had problems with those S3 cards are problematic. And they don't update their drivers very often like they should. You have the lastest drivers form their site? (http://www.s3graphics.com/drivers8d04.jsp) , update the driver, then update directx. you might have to uninstall the old driver first and all the software it added when you installed it. Lastly I have often heard that installing an outdated version of directx, and then upgrading from there works. Although, I have never tried it.
