Totaly retarded...

What', exactly, do you find to be retarded about this story?

I don't understand what the patent is for. Is it for the design of the motors in the controllers or the actual interaction between the controller and the videogame? if it's the interaction then I can't see how it would hold up unless sony is blatently using exact code that it never paid for. can you get a patent on a concept?

technically no. you can, however, get a patent on a design or process. someone doesnt need to duplicate it exactly to infringe, just obviously use it without making any meaningful changes. adding a few dohickies here and tweaking a whatsit there doesnt cut it.

I just don't understand why this suit is happening so late, PS2 has been out for what like 3-4 years now?

Posted by: SKYHN

It goes back to PS also, which is a lot older than that.

I dont quite understand it though, I thought the patents in question are for Force Feedback, not rumble? They are 2 completely different things.

late? this was an appeal of a verdict last year.

this isnt an "omg, i got hurt, must sue" lawsuit. business suits take a loooonnnnggg time to get rolling, years isnt unusual.
