How do i change my cd key w/o uninstallin?

Last week i let my friend borrow my cd key because he felt like playing diablo 2. Well now, im getting intrested into playing again. He lost his cd key so thats why i gave him mine. I might get a cd key from my friend(who i used to play it with) because he wont play anymore. Anyway i was just wondering if i could because i can know ahead of time. Thanks
P.S. sorry if this has been asked before.

Why wouldn't you want to uninstall and reinstall? It doesn't wipe your player data -- that's stored in a seperate folder than the folders that are uninstalled/reinstalled.
