ok im working on a friends computer and it a had a butt load of spyware/adware (352) and viruses (73). The computer was super slow, but i got rid of (most of) them and the computer runs smooth now.

*THE PROBLEM*
I went online to run an online virus scan and on Windowsupdate and i keep getting this error message about not being able to run active x it says:
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

*What i tried*
I went into Tools>Internet Options>Security and tried to set all the different levels on the internet zone and local/truste/restricted and it still keeps coming up with this problem, plz help me I have to return the computer today.

*The specs*
AMD athlon 1600+
256mb ddr
40gb hdd
Win XP Home

your help is much appreciated

go into custom and change any and all active x choices to prompt. when youre done, ask him if he wants it on prompt or disable.

i did change them all to prompt on one try and to enable on another and it still did nothing that would let me run it, the same error message kept appearing

In Tools>Internet Options>Security, click on restricted sites, has the windowsupdate site been added here (by some nasty bit of spyware)? Also check that windowsupdate hasnt been put in trusted, as if it is youre have to alter the setting for this zone as well (change them to prompt again)
