boot to the xp cd and begin the installation setup. when it promts you to partition, you will go with 1 primary and 1 or more logical drives. presumably ntfs, but fat32 will work. then format when prompted to. then install when it gets to that step.

weird ....while i formatting it ok.. when i go to the installing windows...my moniter start to turn off suddenly then turn on while the installling is running, when the monitor came on again ,the installation still running,....it will also flinker and suddenly will auto RESTART.. when i resume setup for installling window , it will happen again and again....
ok... got one time i succeed in installing the window completely, when i go into desktops, some times it will hangs.... or suddenly wil restart it own...my monitor screen will flinker as well some times.... i suspect a power failure on my power supply... am i rite to say that??? any way to check it?? ... even when i loading to window, it will hang half way when loadin to the users select page..(XP), and sometime when i switch on the computer, the cpu will run...but the monitor will not turn on.. can someone solve this problem for me/???

It sounds like you didn't completely "Nuke" your old installation. Did you do a "quick format" in NTFS? Because if your getting that type of problem during a "clean" install, I'm thinking something is there that shouldn't be. In other words, there should be nothing. Zip and Zero.
I'm gonna pass on some good troubleshooting info I got from RedWench: Check your hardware first.
Memory test: http://www.memtest.org/ (download it, make the floppy and boot to it) this program turned up bad memory in my machine when Windblows Memory Diagnostic said I was good to go.
What brand is your Hard Drive?
