When I logon to any one of my windows accounts I get two popup messages.
The first one says
C:\WINDOWS\ System32\services\wmplayer.exe
windows cannot find ‘C:\WINDOWS\ System32\services\wmplayer.exe’.
make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. to search for
a file, click the start button, and then click search.
There’s a red X on the left of the box, and it makes a sound when it appears.
The second one says
Desktop
Could not load or run ‘C:\WINDOWS\ System32\services\wmplayer.exe’
Specified in the registry. make sure the file exists in your computer or remove
the reference to it in the registry.
There’s a yellow triangle with an ! on the left and makes a sound when it appears.
Until I click ok for both of them the icons in the notification area don’t load.
There’s nothing in the C:\WINDOWS\ System32\services folder.What I think
may have caused this is wmplayer.exe might have gotten infected with a virus
and my antivirus software deleted the file. I’ve had this problem for awhile
and when it happened windows media player stopped working. Since then I’ve
upgraded to SP2 and it fixed the media player but not the messages. What I
want is someone to advise me on how to remove the reference in the registry,
because I don’t know enough about the registry to be messing around in there.
Any help would be greatly apreceated it’s really annoying.

You won't necessarily have to use the registry editor to fix this. Click on start, run, and type in 'msconfig'. In the window that opens up, click on Services. First order all the items by service name (click on the 'Service' column). Now scroll down to the Ws and look for something that says 'Windows Media Player'. You might have something that starts with 'Windows Media Connect...'. Thats not it. If you can't find anything like this. Try looking through the whole list. But before you waste your time doing this (the list is very long), the solution might be in the next tab: 'Startup'. Under here, look for stuff under the 'Command' column that has 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\services\wmplayer.exe ...'. If you find what you're looking for, simply uncheck the checkbox next to the item.

It wasn't in the services but it was in the startup. so i unchecked it when i restarted this came up.
System Configuration Utility
you have used the system configuration utility to make changes to the way windows starts.
the system configuration utility is currently in diagnostic or selective startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time windows starts.
choose the normal startup mode on the general tab to start windows normally and undo the changes you made using the system configuration utility.
don't show this message or launch the system configuration utility when windows start
im guessing its ok to check the box? anyway i think that did the trick, that problem was annoying me forever thanks.
