I use XP professional with SP-1(Been procastinating on SP-2) Recently my system got infected with a worm(W32.Spybot.Worm) - I got rid of it following Symantec security response instructions. by the way I use Norton Antivirus 2004Professional. now I have another problem - something called "hacktool.roottest"- It keeps coming back even after NAV says it has been removed. Oh and I installed SP2 finally. Hey some suggestions are welcome... PLEEEEEEEASE!!

Try and see if one of this antivirus on line scans is able to remove it?
No Antivirus is 100 % effective, so try the antivirus on line scans from the provided links.
A thing you always should do, if you know, or suspect, that your PC is infected.

Here are links to some antivir on line scans:

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hou.../start_corp.asp

http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

If nothing of this helps. I would advice you to backup the files you wanna keep, and then reformat your harddrive and reinstall Windows XP.

boot into safe mode, disable system restore, then run nortons to remove it. reboot and see if its still there before enabling restore again.
