Cool n Quiet Technology

Hey i was just wondering is it best to take advantage of the cool n quiet technology and Q-fan technology features on my board.

I have them active at the mo and it is noticeably quieter i suppose altho my 120mm fan is not being controlled which is the largest source of noise.

Will my cpu u be running hotter tho due to less fan speed, i notice its running on about 1 volt and only 1000 fsb instead of the normal 1800.

I read somewhere not to use it for some reason, something to do with drivers but it was probaly an oldpost.

any comments?

I don't really see a reason to use speed or voltage ramping technology on desktop systems. They're really more useful in laptops where you can get more battery life. If your fans are too loud, I think a more practical route would be to get a fan controller so you don't have to wonder if your processor is running at a slower speed.

But to your question, no, it won't run hotter since as you said it is running at less voltage and speed. That's what AMD's Cool n Quiet thing does to, uh, cool and quiet down the system.

the rampdown can cause problems with games that base timings on your clockspeed. you wont notice this until you play one of those games, of course. but doing things in slow motion, or more likely, at hamster speed will be a bit irritating.

but if you arent having any driver or program issues, you can leave it on if you wish.
