Help! Computer is mad messed up.

So my computer problem started about 3 weeks ago, and I've been trying to fix it since. I installed a second 512 of DRAM, which was faulty and fried. I took out the stick and tried to boot, when the problems began... FYI I'm running XP home.

I used to get the Blue Screen of Death about 2-3 minutes after the computer loaded. The error message changed almost everytime. It was a full system crash and I would need to restart the computer. Then I would have another 2 minutes before it crashed again. This problem occured in Safe Mode as well.

First thought: GPU is fried. [the blue screen once said something about my graphics card/ driver]. Swapped out graphics cards, problem persisted.
Second thought:Overheating. I opened the case and threw mad fans around the processor and left the case open. Problem was not resolved.
Third thought: Power Supply is ****ed up. I disconnected my secondary harddrisk, my optical drives, disk drive, etc. etc. Only essential hardware was powered. Problem was not resolved.
Fourth thought: RAM is messed up. Ran a RAM diagnostic from BIOS, then a third party diagnostic tool, both show the RAM is fine.
Final thought: Drivers ****ed up/ Virus/ software. I reformatted my harddrive. Problem not resolved. ALTHOUGH, now, instead of the blue screen, the computer just restarts.

The only thing left is the motherboard... one of my friends thinks it might be the RAM to HARDDISC bus. Any thoughts? Suggestions? HELP! I don't want my computer to die

sounds almost identical to the problem I had with my Syntax mobo...I replaced it with an MSI and it works great.

sorry though...it's never good when you gotta spend money.

It could be the motherboard, as you said that the RAM fried. Did you make sure, that you where free, from statical electrisity, before you started installing the new RAM (That fried)?
Even a small amount of Statical electrisity can kill PC hardware. I learned that the hard way, frying a RAM stick. Just because I did'nt think about static el.

Yeah static electricity didn't fry the RAM... I was grounded. And I always ground myself before handling the hardware. But could the RAM frying mess up the RAM to HARDDISK bus? Do I have to replace the mobo?

I don't know what exactly a ram to harddisk bus is, but if your ram was literally fried, it can easily have taken the motherboard with it.

well heres the thing: i can still load BIOS and WinXP [for a few minutes, anyway]... so the whole mobo CAN'T be fried...

Have you tried the common troubleshooting, like replacing the IDE cables, or trying to boot with only the hard drive and video hooked up

Posted by: Ghetto Blasta

Yeah, I tried booting with only primary HD and video hooked up, didn't change anything. However, I haven't changed the IDE cables. How do I do this? What could be wrong with them?
