AC Adapter for laptop

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi!

Got a problem guys! Here goes: My AC adapter resently stopped working. I bought a new one but it doesn't seem to be excactly the same. The output level is 19v on both but the old one says 3950mA and the new one says 3.95A LPS also the old one says

INPUT: 100-240v~ 1500mA 50-60Hz and has a symbols that looks like (+)---o)---(-) so.

The new one says INPUT: 100-240v~ 2.3A 50-60Hz and has a symbol under OUTPUT that says (-)---(o---(+).

Also the old one says w/ pfc and the new one w/o pfc. Is it safe to use this new adapter? It also gets very hot when I use it. Both adapters are 75w, the old one was bought in Sweden and the new one in the US.

Thankful for any help!

Magnus

the ampage are the same. The only problem I see is that the positive and negative connectors are switched around which might fry your laptop.............. but I am of no way sure of this.

Yeah, but are the connectors really switched around? The plus and minuses have changed place I know, but it looks as if it's only the picture which is reversed. It's still the plus which connects into the minus (if you know what I mean) on both symbols.

And does anyone know what PFC means?

Thanks
Magnus

PFC = Press for Change

All kidding aside, folks...

PFC means Power Factor Correction

It has to do with how they meausred the amperage etc... Don't worry about it

You should be good then.
