I have installed a sony dvd drive into my tower so that I can burn music on cds. When I go to download it says there is no drive detected. What do I do?

Are you using it as a master or slave and is it on the same IDE cable as your HD (not recomended).
Does it open/close in which case it's getting power?
Does the BIOS detect it on startup?

It does not open or close and it is not detected on startup. What's crazy is that the thing used to work and now it just does not. It's almost like it was uninstalled.undefined

If the thing won't even open or close then the power cable probably isn't connected.
