Left Sound Channel Dead (SB Audigy Platinum?)

Recently I was blasting my speakers to the new rammstein album, and all of a sudden during a build up my speakers clipped and the left speaker died. I assumed it was my left speaker that blew out, but when I tried headphones later that night, the left channel on my headphones wasn't producing sound either.
I've never heard of a soundcard's output being blown out before. Any advice would be helpful before I go shopping for a new card.

Never heard of it. But maybe the card got overstrained in some way, when you played on very high volume?
But it is as you say. That the speakers is the ones that often will die when you let the amp clip for a while.
