PC Gamepads and Drivers?

I got a PS2 USB Adapter and it came with a floppy disk with the drivers but my problem is that my disk drive isn't wroking right.My question is do I have to install the drivers for my gamepad to work?I'm using Windows XP and when I insert the adapter it says "New hardware found and is install".At the game pad setup screen it works fine and I was wondering shuld I still install the drivers?

Use it untill it starts giving you prblem, then download the drivers, OR just download the drivers and install them it cant hurt... ( or so he says )
