I have a dell laptop running windows xp that had less than 500 megs left on a 40 gb hardrive. I was wondering if I could upgrade my hardrive to an 80 gb hardrive that would still fit internally in my Dell Insipiron 5150 laptop.

Yes, it should be just a 2.5" HDD, which is the standard size for most laptop-sized hard drives. Only thing you'll have to do is transfer all of the data that's on the 40GB to the 80GB

Definetely can. Check compgeeks.com for some cheap drives. I have a 5150 and upgraded from 30 to 60. you could also get an external drive.
