Hi ,anyone who can figure this one out.
I am trying to get a game applet to load on the game web site pogo.
I know that this tech forum has concluded that they will not answer questions concerning pogo , but my question is more related to connectivity using a wireless router,
I am running win XP home /sp2 / ie6 all updates/ with a dell inspiron 8600 laptop running through a dell wireless router connected to comcast cable modem. I have excellent connection /speed and internet performance / i have all of my firewalls disconnected and all popup controls turned off,
I am trying to access any game applet in pogo but none will start. this tells me it has something to do with the router, because if i connect my laptop to the router using an ethernet connction (wire) all works fine .
what in the router configuration could be denying access to the pogo applets
? no error message is displayed , the applet just show game attempting to load but never actually does ...
Thanks for any help, i know its a tough one , it has driven me nuts for some time now , and i am usually able to fix most probs...

Okay there are several things you should know:
to my knowledge pogo is/has spyware, which is a bad thing. Meanwhile www.shockwave.com has similar games without spyware.
Switch to firefox, on principle alone (check my sig)
Although not impossible, it seems unlikly that your router is blocking the applet ( or rather blocking the port) If you insist on playing pogo, im sure thier support site has more info.
The most likly cause is that you dont have shockwave/flash installed, or java, depending on the game.
As for the rule of not helping pogo users, ive never heard of it, but i think it has a good reason behind it, as spyware causes 1/2 the issues in here.

I didnt read you saying anythign about having the JAVA runtime environment installed? I believe pogo requires this for all their games to work. you can get it at here :
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp
there is a offline and online installation.

HEY , Just for your info, I resolved my problem with being able to play POGO games on my computer, here is the solution in case you have this problem come up with someone else...
I have WINXP WITH SP2 INSTALLED and apparently there is some new security technology called data execution prevention (DEP) which you access by going to control panel/system/advance tab, turn off/disable this feature as it will not allow your web pages or game software to run properly when it is turned on or active, furthermore, when attempting to play POGO GAMES on a system such as my configuration microsoft virtual machine is required to run games your configuration should resemble this click tools on your internet settings click the advanced tab, insure that microsoft vm (virtual machine) is checked and no other java related items, close and reopen browser to activate your changes, these tweaks have allowed me to play games on POGO WITH NO PROBLEMS at all and also to play their purchased software games,, I hope this helps if anyone has the problems I had..
