Stronghold 2 - problem reading play disk

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I installed Stronghold 2 on my Dell Latitude D800 laptop, but I'm having problems trying to start the game. When I click the desktop icon or insert the play disk, I get an error saying:

Original Disk couldn't be found or authenticated.

I installed it on my workstaton and everything works fine there. Anybody have any clues why it doesn't work on my laptop?

Try using a CD reader cleaner on your CD drive, that might help

Or maybe its the CD try cleaning that

I don't currently have one, guess I could go purchase one, but I don't see how that would help. If it was going to have problems reading the disk, I would assume it would have had problems during the install. Plus, none of the other games I've installed have any problems.

What exactly happens when you put the disk in?

The game starts, but when i hit play i get the little spinnig cd symbol and then the error pops up saying it cant authenticate the cd....

Hi!

That spinning CD symbol, is the anti piracy check.
Shut down any anti spyware you got running. And if you have Alcohol or Deamon tools installed, uninstall them.

Download Nero Drive Speed, and lower your CD / DVD ROM speed to 24 X.

Nero Drive speed here:

I have alcohal installed but I can run the game just fine. I am about to complete both versions of the campaigne.

QUESTION FOR MODS: Is it allowed on opentechsupport forums to give addresses of No CD patches?
