I found this in Blizzards site.
Hope it can be of any help?
Release Notes:
* StarCraft for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X, version 10.1 or later.
* StarCraft for Mac OS X should be installed on a hard drive that is formatted as Mac OS Extended. To find out how your hard drive is formatted, select your hard drive in the Finder and choose "Show Info" from the File menu.
* For the best color quality, it is recommended that you run Mac OS X's Display Calibrator Assistant. You can find it by choosing Displays in System Preferences. Select the Color tab and click the Calibrate button. Then follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your display.
* Networking over IPX, AppleTalk, Serial and Direct Modem-Modem is not available in StarCraft for Mac OS X.
* UDP Networking added. You can now play on your local TCP/IP based local network by choosing "Local Area Network (UDP/IP)" in the Multiplayer options screen. An upcoming release of the Classic Mac and Windows versions will also support this feature, allowing LAN play between these three versions.
* If the computer goes to sleep while you're in the battle.net chat screen, you may get disconnected from Battle.net. If this happens, simply disconnect and then reconnect to Battle.net.
* If music is turned off in the game, you may notice occasional pauses while the CD-ROM drive spins up. You may want to leave music turned on to avoid this.
* Please do not lock any of the files in the StarCraft folder. This will prevent you from being able to connect to Battle.net.
* If you have any problems installing StarCraft in Mac OS X's Classic environment, download StarCraft_Installer_1.05-b.sit from http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/starcra...ller_1.05-B.sit. Run this program with the StarCraft CD in your CD-ROM drive. Should that fail, restart into Mac OS 9 and install from there.
How to Install:
1. Find the StarCraft folder on your hard drive, and open it.
2. Drag all the files from the "Brood War for Mac OS X" folder into the "StarCraft Files" folder.
3. Select the StarCraft (Carbon) file in your StarCraft Files folder.
4. Choose Make Alias from the File Menu.
5. Move the new alias file to the StarCraft Folder.
6. Double click the StarCraft (Carbon) alias to play.

Hey guys, I'm having some major problems.
I have a starcraft brood war cd that I'm trying to install on my mac now. I have OS X, I have on my Mac the original starcraft installed for OS X (not classic) and it works perfectly. Now, I follow instructions to install brood war. I first download the brood war OS X patch from Blizzard. I followed the patch instructions and dragged the files to my Starcraft file folder, where it replaced several other files, and I renamed the maps folder as required.
Anyway, when I put in the brood war cd and tried to run it, it said:
Quote:
|
Please insert your Starcraft CD
|
Even though the Brood War CD was in the computer! So I'm confused and I try taking out the brood war CD and putting in the original starcraft CD and I try running starcraft again. So it starts entering the program and then it stops and says:
Quote:
Data File Error
Starcraft was unable to open a required file. If this problem persists, try reinstalling from the Starcraft CD. The problem occurred while trying to load a file
arr\mapdata.dat
Error: 24

So now neither Brood War nor Starcraft works on my computer. I have the latest version of OS X (Tiger).
If anyonce could provide sppedy help it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Perhaps ur cd's dirty; try DISKDoctor (I never have, but it sounds ok)
There is also the possibility of your drive being dirty; you can clean that too.
