Just a few questions about Windows 98 Special Edition that I haven't quite figured out yet.
What's the minimum install. (Yes I should know this after a billion and a half installations of it, but I don't particularly look at the minimum installation size.)
What's the system requirements? I don't have my book anymore, though I have my Key-Code on my case and in a floppy. I lost my book to the evil Coffee Monster! lol
One last one, Does windows 98 support 486 type CPU's? I have a 486 Dx2 66 but I'm trying to get my hands on a 100 to place an overdrive chip on for a small MP3 server type machine, would windows 98 be able to run on that system?
Ok, that's it, just questions I'm either too lazy to answer or just don't have time to get the answers (Damned schedule of life sucks!)

Hehe, first of all, it's Second Edition, not Special Edition (watching too much DVDs, AOD? )
According to Microsoft's site, its minimum requirement is a 486DX/66 and 24MB RAM - but based on my experiences on a Pentium 90, it's so frickin sluggish, even with 64MB RAM (EDO, of course) ... we had a manager install Win98SE on that machine at my ex-job and it was slower than a drunk snail...
Here are Win98SE's system requirements, direct from Microsoft's site:

It's Special Edition to me Laggy. Since it's been a favorite of mine for so long. I couldn't really switch without having a big fuss over it.
Anyways, thanks guys. I would of posted it in the Windows 98/ME forum, but I figured I'd get a better response here and it really isn't a "major" technical problem or anything, just a request for information.
I am "hoping" that I can get my hands on this Pentium 166 at hossfelts for 30 bucks, it's a decent barebone with no vid or sound, Mobo with 64mb ram. SDram as well, but the stupid idiot doesn't know that much about puters, so I might get a decent MP3 server yet. If I can't I'll take that 100 with the overdrive if it's all I can get. Man, I hate tight funds. I'm hoping I can fit all of the requirements with the limited ability of gear I can get my greasy little fingers on.. well big fingers... but still greasy
I'll be using my 8.4gb HDD for the server and a partition on it for a system "ghost" type backup so I don't have to go through the fit of reinstalling winblows a billion times. Would 98se do the job? Or should I go ahead and get that hub that comes with 2000 "advanced server" is it? I don't know but it's only 120 cranks. I'm going to build a network here soon enough so my dad can get a puter and I can as well and with a network, we won't have to argue on who can be on the internet at a specific time . I'm hoping 98se will work, but if it comes down to getting 2000... I'm thinking about just giving up on my beloved Windows 98 Special Edition...
Laggy, I know it's second edition, hell the install CD says it, but it holds sentimental value to me. The most re-installed Operating system on one puter for me lol
