I just noticed something....

I had always wondered why my Mixer controls on my Sound Blaster Live! (software - AudioHQ), never seemed to have any effect when I played music through Winamp (all the controls except the volume control that is).

I just had a shocking revelation. What this means is that I probably discovered something that everyone else already knew. Those mixer controls (the bass control being the offending one) only work when playing media through Windows Media Player.

This I must say - sucks the fat one. Since I despise Windows Media Player for musical purposes, I would like a way for these controls to take effect when playing music through Winamp. Anyone know of a way to make this happen?

I usually just enable the advanced options with the windows volume control. (The megaphone thingy in the system tray). After you do that, the advanced tab comes up and you can increase treble or Bass.

Windows media sucks. Especially version 7.

Gunslinger,

I did some checking around and found this:

Not sure if this is what you want but check it out.

To hell with audioHQ. The only software I use that came with my card is the games.

Hey guys, long time no see. I hope its ok if I post on this forum

I have noticed that the Winamp equalizer even allows changes to cheap sound cards whose treble and bass are greyed out in the Windows settings. Must be some kind of Software Bypass.

It apparently bypasses the windows settings which Sound Blaster or Volume Control adjusts. Media Player is going to always use the Windows Sound System it appears. Microsoft is really trying to get Windows Media Player as the default so they can push there copyrighted material control that has been mentioned recently on the Open Tech Support Front Page News.

Good to see you here Helper.

Windows media will never be mainstream as long as the quality known as Winamp exists.
