sending software by yahoo mail

I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum.

I bought a laptop. I have Microsoft Office XP in my PC. I don't have a DVD burner and Office is too big to burn onto a CD, so I thought I could send it to myself at my Yahoo email address.

I can send some large files to myself this way but when I try to send Office it only accepts the shorcut to Office XP.

It tells me to fix this in my email settings but I don't know how. Could someone please tell me?

Thanks,

I bet that you cannot do that, MS Office is not onl one program it is several programs with their subroutines. If the program is your you you shoud have the MS Office CD.
ANother way normally to transmit large files is to use LAN connection via crosswired network (RJ45 to RJ45) cable and by configuring the TCP/IP on the sender as MAster and the receiving laptop to client.
BUT why not download OpenOffice 1.1 or version 2 they are free http://www.openoffice.org/
and see the power of Linux oriented software.

rip the iso file from the office install disk (i.e. make an image of it), upload that iso image as an attachment to your email (note this step is for convenience). After a few days when that attachment is downloaded to your laptop, do one of two things.

Use a program like Alcohol 120% to mount that image on a virtual.

or

Use something like winrar or nero to dissect the iso image.

If you do this, put the files in a discrete folder. Then use tools>map network drive and set that folder as a virtual drive. Almost instantly the office installer should popup. If it does not go to my computer and double click on the virtual drive.

BtW, I use a processes similar to this all the time to speed up my installs, although I usually access the virtual images off my main pc through a home network.

Thank you for your replies. I actually found a very simple solution. I bought an inexpensive little program called GeneLink 1.11A

It enabled me to run a USB cable from my PC to my laptop and tranfer files easily.

Thanks again. I've saved your replies in My Documents. I appreciate your thoughts.
