Installed Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. Seemed Fine. When I Come To Play The Game The Screen Changes And The Computer Freezes. I Have Rebooted And Tried Several Times. Do I Need To Alter Settings On My Graphics Card, And If So How?
I Have A Geforce Fx 5700 Le.
Many Thanks In Advance

Get a new driver, from Nvidia home. Download Motherboard monitor 5, and check the system temperatures. Too high system temps, leads to overheating. That also can lead to freezing. Try running the PC with the case door open, and see if this helps? If it does, get a VGA cooler, like Antec Vcool ( Costs about 15 USD), that blows cool air on the video card. It will fit into the slot openings in the rear of your PC case. or get a "Slot exhaust blower" fan ( about 5 USD), and put it near your video card. It will also lower the overall temps in your case. The exhaust blower, sucks away hot air. I use a Slot exhaust blower myself. And my temps dropped 5 C, when I installed it. It may not seem much, but actually, 5 degrees, is quite much, when it comes to PC:s.
Get the latest patch from the Spinter Cell manufacturers home.
Download SIS Sandra, and use the "Fine Tune Wizard" module, to determine, what services in Windows, you can shut down?
When you have runned Sandra "Fine Tune Wiz".Then in windows, go: Start + Run. In Run, type msconfig and click the tab "Services". Then uncheck what Sandra says is O.K. to uncheck ( Shut down) and reboot.
In the pictures, you can see, Antec Vcool, to the left, and the Slot exhaust blower.
If you wanna check out the settings, for your video card. Just rightclick at your windows desk, and choose " propertys" + "Settings. Set the slider bar to 1024 X 768. Click the "Advanced" button, and then the tab "FX 5700LE". Check "Quality settings" and see if Both Anti alizing" an Anisotrophical filtering, is set to "Program Controlled". They should be.
And when you are at it, you can adjust your colour settings, and sharpness, if you want.
