Please help. In windows explorer, If I right click on a file and select delete or left click on a file and hit the delete key, explorer.exe crashes with the message EXPLORER.EXE HAS GENERATED ERRORS AND WILL BE CLOSED BY WINDOWS. YOU NEED TO RESTART THE PROGRAM. AN ERROR MESSAGE HAS BEEN CREATED.
I have run scandisk. I have booted from the Windows 2000 CD and selected repair, emergency repair manual but it did not help. I ran Norton Disk Doctor and it did not help.
Attached is Dr Watson and HijackThis logs. Hope these help.

I found this in HiJack This:
O23 - Service: NsEngine - Unknown - C:\Program Files\NovaStor\NovaBACKUP\NSENGINE.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Karen's Time Sync.lnk = C:\Program Files\Karens Time Sync\PTSync.exe
Do you know this is?
Have you tried Mozilla firefox?

NS Engine is Novaback program that backs up my files to tape. Karen's time sync program resets the computer clock every time the computer is turned on to the US NIH atomic clock.
Both have been running before I had these problems.
Thank you for looking at my post and inquiring about these items.
PS: I am running firefox and it is just great.

O.K.! Yes Firefox is great! Would'nt trade it for IE, even if Microsoft payed me.

Someone suggested that I start another Dr. Watson and just show only ONE instance of the problem. Attached is Dr. Watson and the related file for ONE instance together with the Hijack file for the date.
I hope this helps someone.
Thank you for your caring.

ptaker,
Sounds like your explorer.exe file was corrupted by some sort of malware, or! Is your window's Cd scratched? Have you run chkdsk?

I did run ad-aware, hijackthis, microsoft antispyware, spybot and spy sweeper with zero hits.
The problem started in powerdesk, an explorer.exe shell. Then I removed powerdesk. I even tried another version of explorer.exe with same crashing. Even in safe mode, right clicking on a file caused a crash.
Windows CD is aok.
Are you able to review Dr. Watson?
I posted it but if you need it I can attach it again.
Thanks for your interest.

Problem solved. AnnMarie in one of the tech help groups suggested running the ShellExView utility and follow method 2 instructions. Link was http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm. I disabled each Context Menu Handler until I found the problem one. Then I removed the program causing the problem, which was Webrot Spysweep version 3.00
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and interest.
