does anyone have any info on the comparison between the two above chipsets? the only difference i see is the nf4 has SATA 150 and the nf4u has SATA300. is the ultra the better buy for gaming? if i was to buy one right now, i would re-use my 2 existing sata 150 drives, so is it worthwile to upgade right now? im specifically looking at the abit an8 and the an8 fatal1ty.

Yes, from what I have read too, those are the only differences. Except, that the Ultra have the highest S ATA speed . And for a while it whas possible to tweak a nforce 4 ultra mobo to be acting like an SLI. But Nvidia, have blocked that possibility, in their latest drivers. You can read about it here:

sorry for the late reply, but in your opinion, is an Ultra chipset something i need for heavy gaming? i currently have 2 sata150 drives and i feel they do me right right now. i dont really plan on buying new drives any time soon.

Hi oderus!
Well, not really. My personal opinion, is that, you can afford to wait a while. And later on, get an SLI setup and buy a SATA 2 drive (s) and all the other "Bells and whistles". You have nice machine anyway. The only resonable upgrade I can think of, is maybe to get a 6600GT or 6800 GT. I, as you may remember? had a MSI 5900XT. And I think that it is a card compairable to the Radeon 9800 pro. But I got a Leadtek 6600GT.128mb yesterday. And I promise you, that it is a noticeable difference.
I have tested following games:
Jedi Academy
Spellforce, Strategy / RPG game, with very good graphics.
Splintercell. Pandora tomorrow (Comes with the card)
Price of Persia, Sands of time ( Comes with the card)
Colin Mc Rae 2005
FIFA 2005
Tiger Woods 2005
Indiana Jones, And the emperors tomb.
Sturmovik 2 (World War II, flight sim.)
And as for the games I owned before this card. They feel like completly different games now.
Leadtek 6600GT. costs 151 USD. at Newegg.
I also heard, that the Leadtek version is one of the most quiet versions of the 6000 series. And I must agree, that it´s not much louder, than my old card.
But, I really can't tell you if this is the fastest version ? Many have high opinions about XFX.
