Biostar integrated sound not working

Having trouble with getting my c-Media based AC'97 to work in an M7VIG-400 motherboard. Chip is CMI9761A. Have tried downloading the drivers from Biostar, from C-media and upgrading my VIA VT8235 south bridge drivers from VIA. No codecs present after using the driver & utilities disk that came with the motherboard. Setup of the Audio Driver package is unable to find gm16.dls or dmusic.sys ....So if anyone has a way to fix this, I would appreciate it!

Put the cd with the driver in your ROM. And open the cd. Maybe you can locate the gm16.dls file?
Have Windows said anything about , finding a new hardware?

Windows also fails to find new hardware on the system and the gm16.dls and dmusic.sys are not found in the driver cd. That's the problem. When I run the driver setup program (which is on the driver package that comes with this particular motherboard) a box to enter the location of these files comes up, but they are not in the driver package, on the hard drive or on the Windows 98SE disk. Biostar suggests that I might try replacing the motherboard, but I am partly disabled and getting the fan off the CPU in order to swap boards is a pain. I already have another motherboard that is identical, but don't want to swap them unless absolutely necessary...

Hi again!
Pity you could'nt find those files.
But if the motherboard works well, except for your soundcard. Then maybe the best and easiest and above all cheapest soloution, would be to get a Creative sound card? They have Soundblaster Live! 24 bit, PCI soundcard. A good standard soundcard, for 25 USD at newegg net shop. And I think, that you can find it even cheaper at the mart.
Just remember to disable the old card in BIOS after installing the new one.
