I was hoping to upgrade the memory on my old HP computer. My question is can I use 256 DDR with this computer? Right now it has 64 MG RAM.

Hey! Yes 256 mb, is the maximum amount or RAM. According to HP.

HP Pavilion 4445 Memory Specs:
Speed: 66MHz
Fixed RAM: NONE
Standard RAM: 64MB
Banks: 2
Maximum RAM: 256MB
Sockets: 2

If you wanna know the speed and manufacturer of your RAM. Download CPU Z or Everest Home.
It's important that you get the same speed.

Are you absoloutly sure it is DDR?! I think I saw it use SDR RAM.

I was asking if the 4445 can use DDR. Right now it has 64 MG SDR RAM.

No, unfortunatly not. As they use different types of RAM slots. But upgrading to 256 mb of SDR RAM will still improve things for you. 64 mb is a real bottleneck.

I can give you an example. I had a Compaq, as my first PC. It came with 64mb of SDR RAM + Windows ME.
But it lagged horridly, when I for ex. played Diablo 1.
So I got 128 mb stick. And it improved the whole performance drastically.
But 265mb of RAM, would have been even better.
