Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite A25-S3072 and want to upgrade my cd-rom drive to a Toshiba P6274 dvd-burner. I've been looking everywhere for instructions for this but w/ no luck. I have lifted the keyboard off and it doesnt look like I can get thru to the cd-rom that way, and on the bottom of the laptop there are a million screws to take off to get to the drive! Does anyone know how to get to the drive? Do I have to go thru the bottom and take EVERYTHING apart? Is this new dvd-burner even compatible? Any page w/ instructions and pictures? or anyone go thru this themselves??? THANKs!

Hi! Do you have USB 2.0 ports on your laptop?

Then maybe, the easiest way, would be to get a DVD ROM, USB. 2.0 cabinet. And for ex. NEC 3520A, wich is a nice DVD combo.
But That is, if you not are moving the Laptop around much?

A friend of mine, have that setup for his older HP Laptop. And he swears, that you cant see any delays.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I do constantly have to move my laptop around and dont want any extra things to carry. Plus I found a good deal for the slim dvd-burner using Froogle.com.

Also, the bottom has a bunch of "hidden" screws after I take off the soundcard and other things, so it seems real hard to get to the cd drive. There is no separate bay for just the drive. I think Toshiba doesnt want me to change it out

Help anyone?

email toshiba tech support. They will probably point you to specific instructions buried on their website.
