Card install problem.

I bought a graphics card, one that supported AGP. Here is my computer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...cname=c00063244
Now, it says it has a 'Multiplexed AGP interface' But when I attempted to install my card, there was no AGP port. What should I do? Just return the card?

Strange! I looked at the layout. and I cant find any AGP port on that mobo!
That s.c. "Multiplexed AGP", is probably HP:s idiotic name on the integrated video chip or something like that.

Get a PCI Video card, like Jaton FX5700LE. 128mb PCI or Apollo Bloody Monster III. FX 5700LE. 128 mb. PCI. At newegg.

Okay, after I finish returning the one I got, I'll likley get one of those. Thanks.

Just dont forget, that you may have to disable the old card in BIOS.
And unplug the PC, before you opens it. Remove yourself from static electrisity, by grabbing a watertap or kitchen sink, before you touch the card.

Hopefully you'll have better luck than I had with the computer I am using atm. I tried installing a PCI card on it because the integrated graphics are incompatible with World of Warcraft. Turns out you cannot disable the onboard graphics though. Turns out you also cannot set them as the secondary display adapter either.

Also, if you look at the overhead view of that motherboard, you can see solder points for an AGP slot that simply isn't there. It very much reminds me of the motherboard out of a Gateway computer I got free once.

So... after all that rambling, I suggest before you even buy the PCI card (or atleast before you take it out of the box) you check to make sure that you can disable the onboard graphics. :-)

If the PC is out of warranty I'd rip out that crappy MOBO and replace it with one with an AGP port. It'll probably be cheaper than your AGP graphics card.

that multiplexed agp port does indeed seem to refer to the onboard graphics, I took a quick look at the chipset. I recommend getting an inexpensive mobo with agp btw

I disagree with thtadthtshldntb at the moment. I think that getting a PCI video card is the best solution for you at the moment. Just make sure you get one with AGP next time. No rush to go out and buy a new one.....

Thanks. Getting a new motherboard seems a bit to tough. I'll likley just go eith the PCI card option.

A couple of guys here, have got the Jaton FX5700LE. 128 mb. PCI.
And they seem to like it.

It really depends on your funds and your comfort with ripping a lot of things out of your computer.

With unlimited funds though, I suppose you would just have one put together with the top of the line in PCI Express cards though. The PCI card will suffice though will never be quite as fast as an AGP card can be.
