pc trouble

I cannot get my windows update page to show also my search and my defrag stopped working ,would appreciate any help.please email me bjd@insightbb.com

That could be caused by so many different things. Often when such things do not seem to work correctly, I start with making sure my Anti-Virus definitions are up-to-date and run a full scan with it... then I make sure my Anti-Spyware scanners are all up-to-date aswell and run them. I use Spybot: Search & Destroy, Microsoft Anti-Spyware (Beta), and Adaware. Also, if you use XP, you can use their auto-update software and get all your Microsoft Components as secure as possible (for the time) if you still cannot access the Windows Update page.
If all else fails, that's the reason I run 2 Hard Drives in my old computer. One full of media and stuff that is not easily replaced and one for programs. Reformatting is sometimes the easiest way.
P.S.
Sounds like more of a software problem than hardware to me. :-)
