My friend has a Compaq with Windows 98 isntalled and proboble never defragged or deleted cookies.
The problem is she just bought and installed Stopsign antivirus (never heard of it) and when she boots up the computer freezes when the icons start coming up.

before the windows boot, she needs to direct it to safe mode boot. this is usually f5 or f8. at any rate, once in safe mode, she can remove this program from the startup, or uninstall it. and clean up the comp
