I used to play Runescape a ton, then I got bored of it. But anyways, my friends are starting to play it again, and I want to also, but i'm a little worried because the computer I used to play Runescape on was horribly infested with malware. I don't know if this had anything to do with Runescape. It was not a legitamate copy of windows xp (shhhhh. Don't tell Microsoft) and it didn't have the security updates my new laptop has. I'm a little worried about starting Runescape again anyways. Does or has anyone ever played it and had any problems with this sort of thing? Jagex seems nice, but you can never be sure... And also, can malware be transfered from user to user?

malware (or spyware/adware as its more commonly known) is basically unwanted programs, kinda like the flu you pick up from a taxi. no real harm, but pesky and can slow ya down and make you grumpy. In order to GET spyware you need to download something (funky mouse cursors, aol, smileys are the WORST of these, however you can get it from simply visiting a website such as humor.com (example, unsure of its status)
Now that class is over, Runescape is adware free ( most games are, they allready got thier money from you) so playing that is -->SAFER<-- than being on the internet (no viruses either) I can get a lot more into detail, but read my sig it should get all of the spyware and speed up your computers noticibly
