Weird mic problem with Counter Strike

Ok, I JUST got this brand new headset with my Guild Wars - Collector's Edition. Has a mic hooked up to the left earphone. I plug the mic plug into the mic outlet on the back of my PC (the orange one) and I leave the black headphones plug unplugged (since I use the speakers for sound instead). Everything I use the mic for works. I've talked over AIM, the mic test in CS works fine, etc, etc. BUT, the one time it doesn't work is when I'm actually playing CS and I try to speak. There is NOTHING. The mic test works perfectly fine and my computer seems to support VoIP (since I talk over AIM), but when it comes to transmitting my voice midgame, it just doesn't. I can hear other people speaking over the mic no problem, but me... nothing. It makes absolutely no sense and I'm fricking pissed.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

...nevermind, I figured it out...
...I didn't press the mic key...
...I feel so idiotic now...
