I use Outlook 2003 Pro. On an XP home enviornment. Emails I send, sometimes generate a winmail.dat attachment in the recepients email. Particularly so when the recepient is an aol id and ocassionally yahoo and hotmail. I'm told this is something to do with usage of rich text. Is there any around this? Often, I need to use rich text for professional purposes.

How to Prevent the Winmail.dat File from Being Sent to Internet Users.

In short, you can't use the Rich Text format and not have it include the winmail.dat attachment -- Rich Text format only works on Exchange mail servers, and AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, and just about everything else on the planet are not Exchange mail servers.
