AccessDTV HDTV Tuner Card Review

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

AMD Power has a review of what looks like a neat PCI TV Tuner card. Here's a snip:

High Definition Television gives 1080 lines of resolution. It is also broadcast in 16x9 format, closer to the aspect ratio of most widescreen movies. NTSC broadcast are currently in 4x3 format with 480 lines of resolution. Compare that to playing Quake at 640x480 and 1280x1024, only add a couple of inches to the width.

Currently, the AccessDTV card sells for $399 with the UHF antenna and is available from Digital Connection. While that price may seem high at first, remember that an HDTV set-top tuner is going to cost about the same, if not more, and doesn't give you recording capabilities.

The price looks terrible but if you consider a HDTV costs around 5000$, it doesn't look so bad.

Read the rest of the review from here.

hmm..I have a lot of channels supporting HDTV already in my area. I just might get it and try it out since cable is getting too costly. Well, maybe someday anyways.
