MMC Error

hi,

Hey, I just got done doing a spyware/viri job on a computer. But went to use the device manager and got a MMC error. Unit was now clean.
(Avast=0, Norton=0, AVG=0, MCAfee=0, Panda=0, Cleaner=0, Tend=0, Stinger=0, Adaware=0, Spybot=0, MSAnti=0, hijackthis=clean, spysweep=0, ADSSpy[complete scan]=0, pepper=0, CWS=0, Pestpatrol=0)
tried replacing the device manager, snapin, nope. I used Norton windr, sfc and reg mechanic and no good. Normally time for a soft restore, but I am sick of going that route. This is about the third time I have seen this in the past few months. Microsoft has a beta MMC fix, but that didn't work either. Any ideas?

Oh! Of course the comp is WinXp, all the lateste SP and updates, all hardware checks out as in great shape. (ontrack, msmemtest etc...) it was a clone machine. don't remember the exact specs, as it was at work. but more than meets winXP requirements.

Umm.. What is the specific error you are getting ..?

it_waaznt_me,

Sorry to say, I won't be back at work until tomorrow, and I am sure by then they will have soft-restored it. But it read something to the effect of , "unable to find or execute devmgmt.msc".
