PSP Online Woes

I am at a friends house and he has wireless internet acess. His PSP works just fine with it but when my PSP settings are exactly the same as his *network settings that is* my PSP will not connect. It gets to the IP adress search screen and then stops. It says that the PSP could not connect and that the IP adress has timed out. Any tips or help?
