4-monitor spanning

Does anyone know off-hand if there are any cheap solutions to span a desktop across four monitors?

The only thing I've found so far is something by some company called Colorgraphic - a 4-port video card that costs ~$480.

It'd be nice to know if I could just plug in 4 PCI cards and have them work together in spanning mode... I'm seeing some Google results that talk about doing this with Nvidia cards and using NView.

If you plug in 4 video cards and install them correctly using appropriate windows drivers, WinXP (and 2000 I think) should just recognize them and provide you with several options, cloning or spanning. Having separate desktops in windows requires separate software, usually included with the card or downloadable from ATI or nVidia's sites. I have an xFx6600GT and I span two monitors easily in XP. I have not been able to get this running in Linux however, delaying my adoption of Linux as my primary OS.
