Windows Won't Boot (I think it's a hardware problem)

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the Hardware or the Windows section, but my dad tripped over the power cord to his computer and I think he broke the power supply or something connected to it. It's very wiggly now. Anyways, when you start the computer, it says some stuff like "Windows didn't boot correctly. A recent hardware change may have caused this." and things like that. It asks if you want to boot in safemode or normal mode. Either way you choose, windows fails to boot and it goes back to that same screen. Do you think it's the power supply?

if reseating the power cord doesnt do it, he might very well need to replace the power supply. hopefully, there isnt anything else at issue.

We'll have to look inside and see what we can see.

Two things.

One, sometimes with a PSU there is a sort of switch in the male connector slot that the power cord depresses, this is rare but I have had seen it. The power cord may not be depressing it fully. This is unlikely but I mention it as a possiblity.

Two, the trip may have jarred the system enough to knock something loose like the ide or SATA cable. Open the system up and verify all connections. Make sure everything is connected firmly. Also check the ram chips, one or more may have been knocked loose. Hell an expansion card could also have been knocked loose if it was not seated and locked down properly.

Howdy,
is it the plug in that's lose or the whole power pack that moves? open case an inspect the cables to see if they are lose. You will have to replace power supply. have fun!
