JPG image corruption

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just had to recover some JPG pictures from my aunt's compact flash card and it worked pretty well. However, some of the pictures are corrupted. When viewing them in Windows XP thumbnail mode, the image displays as normal (except smaller, of course), but when viewing the image on Windows Picture and Fax Viewer or Internet Explorer, half of the image doesn't show.

I was wondering it there was a way to fix this. If you need more information, just ask.

Hey taco_fox

Try to open the JPG in some graphic software like photoshop.
After doing so save it in a new name and see if it helps.

Good luck

taco, some cameras embed a thumbnail in the image header, which is probably what you are seeing in Explorer's preview. Since that would be in the first half of the image, it would properly display.

Thanks for the help, but it looks like TotalRecall has the right idea. I guess the images are unrecoverable.
