Starcraft-Not working in XP-Help ASAP

Hey guys, I suddenly got the craving to play a few games of starcraft and nothing seems to work on windows XP. I read the forum about how to reinstall, change compatibility modes, then patch it, nothing will work..
It doesn't search for a cd, yet when I put the cd in, It comes up to install or play, it keeps asking for the cd telling me it's not in there, Well, I'm ready to go ahead and throw the cd in the microwave for a cool light effect soon, if anyone has a definite fix or something with some strong backing to fix this, I don't mind editing registry, surely not new to that. I refuse to download NO CD type programs because I'm sure 95% of them have virii in them. Regardless, there has got to be a way to play on windows XP, I've changed compatibility mode to every mode I can think of, probably installed it 5 times tonight...
