Random Shutdowns/Reboots

Hey guys. I have been experiencing this problem for awhile now, and after some contemplating and tweaking, I can't seem to figure it out. My computer just shutsdown or restarts randomly all by itself. Sometimes im just browsing on the internet, or even while writing a term paper (grrrrrrr) and it restarts. One day it will do it, the next it will be fine. Either way it's ticking me off and I want it to stop. My setup is as follows: Asus A8V Deluxe mobo, AMD 3500+, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb, 160gb Sata Deskstar, 2 X 512mb Corsair Ram, Antec 550w power supply. I first really noticed the problem after I installed Half Life 2 and updated my ATI Driver to 6.14.10.6517. Is this known to be an unstable version? Should I resort back to the original driver that shipped with the card and sustain performance loss? Others have told me it could be the power supply not supplying enough juice...I have run checks though and it is up to par. Heat is also a minimal concern, the fans seem to be doing their job at cooling. So, I guess I would like to know, perhaps someone has a similar setup as I do and could direct me. Maybe someone has experienced this before and could help me out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

How do you know the fans seem to be doing their job, have you examined the actual temperatures?

Posted by: redwench

if your temperatures and voltages are in the normal range, i would try an older driver version.

Here's My Temps and Voltage, are they normal?

No Stress-----
CPU Temp 48.5C
MB Temp 30C

Stress----
CPU Temp 53C
MB Temp 32C

VCORE Voltage 1.55v
3.3V Voltage 3.23v
5V Voltage 5.05v
12V Voltage 12.096v

The temps and voltages seem o.k.
Test an older driver version, as Redwench said.

You can find drivers here:
