XBOX video problem

Hi there!
XBOX video problem
Our XBOX displays through SCART on a small PAL TV. This worked fine until a few weeks ago. Now the display starts in color, then somewhere during the boot process the display turns black&white.
On our living room TV everything works fine, so there's no problem with cables, connectors or ports. The small TV works fine as a color TV with the cable TV signal, and the initial display from the XBOX is also in color.
One source suggested that the XBOX output is probably PAL60, which our large TV can handle but the small one can't. This would cause the small TV to remove the color signal which it can't handle.
Video settings in the XBOX include an option for PAL60 / PAL / NTSC which are set to PAL, and a color setting 16/32 bit which I have both tried, but the settings do not seem to have any effect at all.
The problem started (according to my sons) right after playing a particular game called Madagascar for the first time. It played all right, without any problem, on the small TV. The XBOX was switched off after the game, then the next time it was switched on, the problem occurred.
Because the problem/switch always occurs on exactly the same point during the startup process, I would say that at that point maybe a video setting is activated, which can not be changed from the video settings menu. Or, a driver could be missing for the required PAL or color depth setting. These are things that could be caused by a program on a game disk , I think.
I'd appreciate any help or thoughts about this problem.
