Need Help With Aim!!!

I dont understand how to fix my instant messenger problem. It will log me on but every time I recieve or send or even click on a buddy to try to send a message It freezes then it tells me this...
Error signature

Then it shuts down my instant messenger...I dont understand. HELP ME PLEASE!!!
All the good info I can give you is that I use windows 2000 and I have norton antivirus.
This has been going on for quite some time and I have even tried deleting aim and redownloading but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
