Epox turns a profit in 3Q

Digit Times has some news about Epox's good turnout this quarter. Here's a snip:
Boosted by rising sales of its three major product lines, Epox Computer reported much-improved third-quarter revenues of NT$1.42 billion, up 47% from the second quarter. Its gross profit margin also increased from 8.03% in the second quarter to 13.05% in the third.
Despite losing money for most of the first half, Epox turned profitable in the third quarter. Although it was the first second-tier company to lower its forecast, Epox is now expected to maintain the higher profit margin through the fourth quarter and receive about NT$70 million in pre-tax profits. So far, besides Epox, second-tier makers Shuttle and Biostar Micro International have also announced a lowering of their 2001 forecasts. However, it seems unlikely that either of the two companies will be able to turn a profit, as Epox has done, this year.
