ps2 wireless controller is messed ??

I just bought a ps2 ( i know ps3 is coming out soon but i feel it is worth it) anyway..i also bought a pelican wireless controller for it. it works fine, until i put in my mem card. then it stops working. everything works fine with the factory controller. and my wireless works fine too, as long as i dont want to save anything  any ideas? any help would be greatly app.
