What do you want to see from OTS in the future?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Since we are in the last stages of a script upgrade, I guess now would be a good time to test it by putting up a poll!
So what do you want to see from OTS in the future? Don't be shy, give us a piece of your mind...
Posted by: Outlaw
"Thank you for voting, you will now be taken back to the poll"
I somehow ended up on the main page, nowhere near the poll (or the forum for that matter)
anyway, I like guides. Like: "how to make a dual boot system with Redhat 7.1 and Windows 98 on your onboard Highpoint RAID-controller (with 2 HD's on RAID 0)"
[edit]ooh look, my 300th post, what do I win? [/edit]
Posted by: Swilo
After hitting vote it took me to the "Please wait while we return you to such and such" screen, as usual. But from there it took me back to the main page instead of the forums...

Hehe, few more bugs ... thanks, working on it

Since there seems to be some requests for guides, I'd be interested in what type of guides would like to be seen.
Posted by: Outlaw
I'd like to see a Linux guide, I once managed to get it (Redhat 7.1) on my comp but when I had both Linux and windows on it, it wouldn't boot anymore. If I installed only Linux, it started normally, I think it had something to do with my (unsupported) RAID controller, there was a disk for it from the manufacturer but then I got into the text mode and since I don't know any commands I wanted the graphical mode.
I also know that there are many different versions of Linux (Redhat, Mandrake, etc.) but I wouldn't know the difference between them so I just picked one.
The file types didn't make much sense to me either....I got a long road ahead of me if I ever want Linux to be my primary OS

I voted for guides.
How about an overclocking guide? I know that a lot of you already know how to overclock, but I have no idea how.
Posted by: Bobaroo
Yea an overclockign guide would be cool, i am not sure how to do it. I also like guides on building PC's, like the one on the black Athlon awhile back

Guides for "Dummies" on HTML stuff ..... like errrrrr coding to put MP3's on website's ..... *ahem*
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
I have a couple video troubleshooting guides up in case no one ever checks there.
The hard part about guides is making them unique since so many other hardware sites have similiar guides.
Posted by: Nfested
There are other hardware sites? Uhhh...lol the only other one I know is anandtech.com but I feel too alienated by their technical terms and their articles seem too pretentious in a "I know more stuff about computers than you haha sucks for you" way.
The site looks all organized and professional though.
Posted by: Bobaroo
Yea i have seen other site like that, i don't like them either. I love this site and TG is pretty good.

What's this we stuff?

how about...
Being able to specify, in user cp or wherever, a default font for all your messages to be in?
I hate to have to keep setting up my font, so I just quit doing it.
Or is that already on here?(if so, i dont know where it is!)
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Unfortunately, that feature isn't built into the message board script ... maybe it could be hacked in, but I don't wanna bother - I like the font the way it is
Posted by: Kdr Kane
I like them to b generally the same. It makes the board neater. You should have to change the fonts if you want to make a statement.

How about a HitchHiker's Guide to the Cyberspace?
Posted by: Spork Lover
I would like to see a guide on how to properly mount a heatsink to cpu.... along with pics of course.. I have gotten this one wrong a few times, resulting in poor cooling. Also how to not use too much thermal paste(maybe combine the two?)
Posted by: PhantomGamer
I voted for more articals
because i like reading them and answering them
Posted by: Tecil
I voted more articles too. Stupid me was about 90% finished with my classic gaming write up but forgot to e-mail it to myself from work.
