X-box help (please)

Well I recently got an X-box as a gift and it works fine sometimes but it often freezes. It puts up a screen saying there may be something wrong with the disk but all the games I have are brand new and in perfect condition. Does anyone know how to stop it from freezing up on me? Thanks so much for your help!

A friend had a smiliar problem. He just sold his Xbox then bought a PS2, then sold that PS2 for a new Xbox. He does that a lot though.

Is it new, used, or refurbrished? Is it still under warranty? And have you tried calling that help line or whatever? The only thing I can really think of is that it needs cleaning, either the discs or the system. I haven't torn appart my Xbox because I have the extended warranty on it.

Mines pretty new but I believe the warranty is all ready over on mine. I've havn't tried cleaning mine yet maybe that's the problem. How would I clean it if I wanted to?

Well, make sure when you take it appart you know how it goes back together. Haha. First I'd use a can of compressed air or something and blow out all the dust and such. Clean any fans and connectors. If you wanna clean the laser head, use a q-tip and just gently wipe it clean.

ok I'll try it and hope I can figure out how to put it back together. LOL
